Trichology is the study of the hair and scalp, specifically, hair loss and how to stop it. Everyone's journey is different, but all are emotionally taxing. Whether your experiencing hair loss, hair thinning, or a scalp condition, it all begins with what is happening in the body.

Female and Male Pattern Alopecia or  Female/Male Pattern Baldness

Also known as Hereditary hair loss, or Androgenetic Alopecia is the most common type of hair loss and is a genetic predisposition to hair loss passed down from your family. This can be found in conjunction with and made worse by hormone levels and aging. This type of hair loss is easily identified under our microscope during our consultation.

Hair Thinning, or Diffused Alopecia/Telogen Effluvium is hair loss defined by a loss in the density of the hair and is found all over the head, not in one patch or location. A disruption in the hair growth cycle can contribute to this hair loss and is often triggered by any one of the following:

  • Pregnancy/Hormone shift
  • Stress
  • Diet and/or nutrient deficiency
  • Low Iron or Vitamin D levels
  • Surgery
  • Medications
  • Chemicals in current hair regimen

Alopecia Areata sudden hair loss triggered by an autoimmune response. This is identified by localized and patchy hair loss and is often triggered by a stressful event.

Traction Alopecia hair loss long the hair line caused by constant pulling and tugging. This type of hair loss is often attributed to hair extensions, braids, or tight ponytails.

Scarring Alopecia is the permanent destruction of the hair follicle. This type of hair loss is non-reversible and is causes can include (but are not limited to):

  • Trauma
  • Burn
  • Chemical Burn
  • Infection
  • Other Trauma
  • Birth Defect

Hair Pulling or Trichotillomania is a constant and undeniable urge to pull out ones own hair; often triggered by stress, depression, or other mental illness. Underlying causes must be discussed with a psychology professional. The regrowth of hair after cessation is possible through our Trichology Program.

Your type of hair loss will be identified during your initial consultation and from there an action plan will be put together. These plans will include a product system designed to best suit your needs. Our multi-therapeutic approach of products plus red light therapy work together to yield the best results for your identified condition.
